Location: Discover Point Church

1605 Hwy 138 SE

Conyers, Ga. 30013

Come out,  and bring your whole family,  to an educational workshop provided by Parent to Parent of Georgia! Understand the basics of Special Education and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This workshop will explain how the process of special education works, including Child Find, Response to Intervention (RTI) and Student Support Teams; making a referral; what to expect from an evaluation; how to prepare for an Individualized Education Program (IEP) meeting and how to resolve disputes. Participants will also get a chance to meet other parents, fellowship, and get disability resources!

Telic Empowerment aims to not just provide resources and workshops, but also an environment where parents can receive support, from other parents of children and adults, diagnosed with a disability. It is our desire to create an empowering atmosphere and open forum, where parents can connect, laugh, cry, discuss relevant topics, facilitated by a trained leader, and feel welcomed and refreshed. It is also our goal that each parent leave with additional education, encouragement, resources and new friends. Childcare is provided for your exceptional child and siblings, at no cost, and parents can also enjoy a light brunch! In order to make this support group a reality, we would love your feedback and attendance! Please share any topics that you would like to see discussed, in order to make this group more meaningful. If you are interested, please fill out the form below, include any topics in the message area, and we look forward to meeting you soon!
