Our Mission: Telic Empowerment is a 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization, that provides disability resources, monthly Parent Empowerment Groups, disability friendly community outreach events, education, and advocacy, to special needs families, affected by disabilities, that have children and young adults, from ages 3-30. Our organization primarily targets underserved residents in South Dekalb, Rockdale, and Newton Counties, within the state of Georgia. We aim to empower our families to become advocates for themselves and increase access to necessary services, programs and family supports in their community. With the help of our staff, volunteers, established community partners, and sponsors we equip our families with disability resources needed to access financial, vocational, educational, and medical services.   We host monthly workshops and parent support group meetings, and quarterly, disability friendly, community events.

Our Vision: We seek to provide a safe, supportive, and informative community, that will help families, living with disabled children and adults, develop their own pathway to future success.

I saw the segment about your organization on Fox 5 this morning. This a great resource because it was so hard when I moved to Gwinnett County in 2011 from NY. At that time my son with Autism was 16 and my son with ADHD was 12. It was hard and I felt lost. Now they are 24 and 20; I live in Cobb County. I had to do a lot of researching and searching to locate ideal resources. And when my 24 year aged out of the transitional program at 22. It was hard but this year I have finally found resources and plans for this next phase. You have really created a great support and resource avenue.

      Michelle,
We completely understand the angst that comes along with searching for resources in an area that you are unfamiliar with. We hope to expand to your area in the next few years. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. Even though we are not in your area you and your family are welcome to join us at any of our FREE, inclusive community events, including our Parent Empowerment Group. We have spoken several times about what it is like to have disabled young adults and how to prepare for the next phase. We would love to include you in any of our activities.

Hi, My name is Tekeyah I have a 3yr old son Josiah, I live in Mcdonough,Ga which is Henry county. Due to living in Henry county are we still eligible for the services you all provide ? Also, my son is in the process of being diagnosed, waiting on appointments to see behavioral specialists. Josiah doesnโ€™t talk, meaning he only says about 2 words in total. In my opinion from research Iโ€™ve done on my own while waiting to see doctors he displays certain traits of a child with autism. Will that effect being eligible as well ?

      Hi Tekeyah,
Right now we do not serve Henry County, so we may not have enough resources in your area to suit your needs. However, feel free to submit a resource request form and we will happily provide you with the resources that we do have. Also, we would love for you and your son to attend our free community events. We do not require a doctors note to prove your child’s diagnosis, so as long as you are already in the process of getting a diagnosis that will not effect his eligibility to participate in our events. We would love to have you at one of our Parent empowerment groups to see how we can help you.
